I really enjoyed this course on neurodivergence and critical disability theory. I learnt a lot and felt it really aligned with my values.
It included historical disability activism, legal perspectives, models of disability, critically comparing different theoretical and practical approaches to things, crip theory, neuroqueer, DisCrit, univeral design pros and cons, types of represenatation, examining binaries, person first vs identity first language, geographical and historical perspectives on the things we’re looking at, and a huge range of other really good content, well presented, with lots of nuance, and varied input from different resources and schools of thought – it was very, very good!
And applying and linking all this and the other content covered (which I can’t succintly and accurately summarise here right now!), to voice practice, pedagogy, teaching and understanding.
I’m so glad I went!
